There is no season; fishing is available all year.
Do you need a license to fish in CT?
Anyone 16 years old or older fishing in the Inland District must have a fishing license. Licenses are issued on a yearly basis and expire on December 31st of each year. *For the resident fee, any active, full-time member of the armed forces may obtain a fishing and/or small game guns license.
What is the best time and conditions for fishing?
Fish prefer the early morning and evening sun to the hot midday sun. The surface temperature of the water is also higher at midday, causing the fish to go deeper.
Can you fish at night in CT?
Night fishing is permitted on the entire beach (2 km). During the off-season (October to May), the entire beach (2 km) is closed to night fishing. Blackfish, winter flounder, bluefish, summer flounder, scup, weakfish, and striped bass are among the species that can be captured.
